Imagine Abbotsford
- Imagine if we had a clearly stated and passionate purpose for the city of Abbotsford
- Imagine if we had a Vision of our city in which we all believed
- And imagine how we would feel when we achieved it
- Imagine if we all felt safe and secure wherever we were in our city at all times
- Imagine if we were taking care of the less fortunate and felt good about what we were doing for them… our fellow citizens because, “insomuch as you do this for the least of my bretheren you do this unto me”
- Imagine if we were an example to the world on what “green” really looks like in our homes, our industry, our transportation and we legitimately became concerned for the future of our children instead of the thickness of our wallet
- Imagine clean water and clean air
Imagine ….
Safety and Security
More police, in downtown walking beats, in strategically placed locations. A fulltime officer in each of the high schools each day building relationships and making inroads into the lives of our children. Support services should be strengthened to reach people who are in need. Click here to read a strategy on crime reduction that I would try to build into our community.
Homelessness
We MUST have a comprehensive and complete plan here that first serves the needs of homeless moms with children before they fall through the social net! After that the hard core in facilities that have Community Courts with wraparound services of police, medical practioners, counseling, and work integration AWAY from residential areas and beside social services on transit lines.
Green in terms of transportation and building
Geothermal, wind, solar generated power with zero emission transit. Incinerators should not even be a consideration for our community that already has problems with pollution. We, in this community, have an amazing opportunity to turn things around and to form a model for the world in green living.
Innovative and Positive Branding of Abbotsford
Every place and everyone has a brand… one we earn for good or for bad. We should not allow ourselves to be branded by others but rather determine how we will brand ourselves.
Improving in the above areas takes care of, for the most part, the brand we have in other jurisdictions such as the Lower Mainland… as a violent, crime and drug area whose City Hall is full of red tape.
The City of Abbotsford “World Famous” for safety, helping the homeless, being green leaders, What a Brand…
Just Imagine!
