bill's vision for abbotsford

What is a leader?
A true leader, Bill believes, is not only a manager, but an investigator, a challenger, a creator, as well as a person concerned with moving forward and discovering new horizons. Bill continues to thrive on staying at the edge of new developments for personal and corporate growth.

Why Abbotsford, why now?
Without question, Bill believes today’s top priority for Abbotsford is improving the safety and security of our city by establishing a connectedness and notions of interdependence that permeate successful communities around the world. He also desires to see Abbotsford as a world leader in green living, and a place we can all be proud to live, work and play.

Mission Statement for Abbotsford
In his many years of experience as a leader, Bill knows any group will only reach its potential when a goal is set. For this reason, he is working with a talented and inspirational group of citizens of Abbotsford to come up with a viable mission statement for Abbotsford. Such a mission statement would include safety and security for all, as well as becoming world leaders on living green.

Currently Researching

  1. Bill is currently researching how to lower taxes for companies and corporations trying to find a home. Too many of these companies have gone to surrounding communities because of high DCCs in Abbotsford.

  2. A better solution for the location of the homeless shelters. There are many more options than simply putting the homeless shelters in land the city currently has access to. Bill believes the locations the current city council are considering are far from the best area for the shelters to be built.

  3. Bill is looking into finding a safe water supply for future use of the growing population in Abbotsford.

  4. Bill believes Abbotsford can be a model for the world on alternative energy supplies, and he is researching many possibilities in creative green living that would both be cost efficient to the community and bring new industry to the city.

  5. How to have more police in Abbotsford to make our city safer. This cannot go under the heading of what we want in the community, it must be seen as what we need in the community. Abbotsford police cannot run an efficient fight against crime while being understaffed.  In addition, Bill believes a community court system will help deal with the many cases tied up in the current court system.  From his experience as principal, he knows a quick resolve is key in rehabilitation opportunities.

Richard Curtis
Dr. MacGregor, I had the privilege of being both a student and a football player under your guidance at Abbotsford Senior, 1989-91. You preached commitment, self respect and honor and remain to this day one of the most inspirational people I have had the pleasure to learn from. As a coach myself these days I try and pass on the same virtues you espoused both then and now.

Best of luck in the future sir, Abbotsford can only prosper with you as a City Councillor.
